{"id":20323,"date":"2015-06-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-11T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dejusticia.org\/suspension-of-glyphosate-fumigation-big-decision\/"},"modified":"2017-02-21T16:40:51","modified_gmt":"2017-02-21T21:40:51","slug":"suspension-of-glyphosate-fumigation-big-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.dejusticia.org\/en\/suspension-of-glyphosate-fumigation-big-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspension of Glyphosate Fumigation: Big Decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dejusticia celebra la decisi&oacute;n del Consejo Nacional de Estupefacientes de &ldquo;suspender el uso del herbicida glifosato en el programa de erradicaci&oacute;n de cultivos il&iacute;citos mediante aspersi&oacute;n a&eacute;rea&rdquo; en el pa&iacute;s, comunicada el pasado 14 de mayo, todav&iacute;a sujeta a actuaciones pendientes de la Autoridad de Licencias Ambientales &ndash;ANLA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">El Consejo acert&oacute; al fundamentar esta decisi&oacute;n en la obligaci&oacute;n estatal de privilegiar la salud p&uacute;blica y el derecho a un ambiente sano de los colombianos sobre estrategias de dudosa eficacia para la preservaci&oacute;n del orden p&uacute;blico, as&iacute; como en las bases cient&iacute;ficas plausibles sobre los posibles da&ntilde;os irreversibles que el glifosfato puede producir en la salud de las personas<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Justamente, Dejusticia present&oacute; una petici&oacute;n al Consejo a principios de mayo en donde solicitaba la suspensi&oacute;n del uso del qu&iacute;mico, sustentada en estudios cient&iacute;ficos que demostraban que pod&iacute;a ser cancer&iacute;geno. Con ello se sum&oacute; a m&uacute;ltiples voces e iniciativas de la sociedad civil que se pronunciaron en el mismo sentido.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Esta decisi&oacute;n representa un avance en la pol&iacute;tica p&uacute;blica nacional del manejo del crimen organizado y el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Junto con Per&uacute;, actualmente Colombia es el mayor productor mundial de coca&iacute;na y hace uso desde hace del glifosato para fumigar en el marco de un intenso programa de erradicaci&oacute;n de los cultivos il&iacute;citos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sin embargo, estudios han demostrado que las medidas coercitivas como la del glifosfato resultan menos eficientes para luchar contra los cultivos il&iacute;citos, mientras que medidas alternativas como la promoci&oacute;n de sustituci&oacute;n voluntaria, y un cambio en el enfoque de la lucha contra los estupefacientes pueden proporcionar resultados m&aacute;s estables y duraderos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Por ello, Dejusticia espera que se mantenga una revisi&oacute;n permanente de las decisiones que tome la Comisi&oacute;n T&eacute;cnica encargada de buscar nuevas estrategias para luchar contra el narcotr&aacute;fico, y que no se plantee la aspersi&oacute;n a&eacute;rea de ning&uacute;n sustitutivo o derivado del glifosato, ya que una decisi&oacute;n en
