Los participantes de la Escuela Global visitaron algunos corregimientos y municipios de los Montes de María para comprender mejor los desafíos de la reparación a víctimas y el uso de la tierra por el conflicto armado en Colombia. Leonarda De la Ossa Arias antropóloga montemariana, investigadora y activista que trabajó con la Defensoría del Pueblo conoce bien la problemática de la comunidad y fue nuestro enlace con las organizaciones locales campesinas de población desplazada.<\/p>\n

La problemática de esta zona no está tan lejos de otros conflictos que se presentan en los países del Sur Global. Sobre esta visita hablamos con Leonarda.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Cuéntanos un poco sobre la situación actual de los municipios en María la baja.<\/p>\n

Creo que el problema central es el cambio en el uso de la tierra en Montes de María a raíz del conflicto armado interno. Además de que toda la gente que era productora de alimentos se vio desplazada, hoy no tienen tierra porque esta tierra esta siendo privilegiada para sembrar palma de aceite y madera para la exportación. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

También hay un problema con el agua.<\/p>\n

Sí. Porque la palma necesita mucha agua y las tierras que se están comprando y despojado justo giran alrededor del distrito de riego de María la baja que es el principal distrito de riego de la región y uno de los principales del país. El distrito de riego nació como una conquista del movimiento campesino pero hoy en día está privatizado y está en manos de los grandes empresarios de la palma. <\/p>\n

Además la gente tiene que consumir esta agua con residuos tóxicos por los fertilizantes y químicos y están apareciendo un montón de enfermedades nuevas que antes no había. Hay desabastecimiento de y lo que la gente percibe es que las puertas se abren las puertas de la represa para regar las siembras de la palma y se están secando los cultivos de arroz y pancoger. <\/p>\n

Alrededor de la palma no se puede sembrar nada y la tierra con el tiempo se vuelve infértil. <\/p>\n

¿Por qué es importante que estas problemáticas locales se compartan con los activistas de otros países?<\/p>\n

Yo creo que hay que tomar conciencia de que lo que está pasando acá nos esta pasando a todos. Los Montes de María se han convertido en un sitio estratégico para el cultivo de palma pero eso igual circula y llega al norte, llega a todos los lugares y al final esta problemática de los Montes debería interpelar a todos los ciudadanos del mundo que comen Nutella y van a la gasolinera en su moto. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

¿De qué manera es útil que los campesinos locales puedan compartir con los defensores de derechos humanos de otros países del Sur Global como se ha procurado hacer en esta edición de la Escuela Global?<\/p>\n

Bueno nos da a todos otra perspectiva. <\/p>\n

La justicia transicional y la reparación colectiva se han implementado en otros países y ha sido como un experimento mundial. Aquí tuvimos la oportunidad de ver otras comisiones de la verdad en el mundo y la conclusión de ellos es que es difícil que funcione. Poder ver las lecciones aprendidas y los fracasos de otros lugares para poder pensar nuestro propio proceso es invaluable. Hoy la chica de México por ejemplo decía estoy sorprendida porque al menos se está hablando de reparación colectiva y se lo están planteando. Uno se da cuenta de lo que se ha hecho en Colombia tampoco está tan mal. <\/p>\n
