Sin embargo, las recientes intromisiones del presidente \u00c1lvaro Uribe en el trabajo de la Corte Suprema de Justicia obligan a reflexionar sobre la situaci\u00f3n de la independencia judicial tanto en el primer periodo de gobierno del presidente como en lo corrido del segundo. Desde la Ciencia Pol\u00edtica los estudios acerca de la situaci\u00f3n del Poder Judicial como un poder estatal han sido escasos, lo cual desaprovecha  el potencial anal\u00edtico que esta ciencia puede brindar. El caso colombiano muestra que, adem\u00e1s de sujetarse a factores normativos, la independencia judicial, tambi\u00e9n  depende de las relaciones de poder. En este orden de ideas, la situaci\u00f3n de la independencia judicial en Colombia puede explicarse por el impacto de la reelecci\u00f3n presidencial inmediata (como factor del r\u00e9gimen pol\u00edtico), y porque el uribismo ha tenido una posici\u00f3n reacia ante los controles normativos, y ha defendido la pol\u00edtica de seguridad democr\u00e1tica por encima del judicial (como factores relacionados con el gobierno).
