Sofía is a law student at the National University of Colombia and a research assistant in the Environmental Justice team. Her work and interests focus on resolving international disputes related to socio-environmental conflicts, law of the sea, environmental participation, the environmental impact of businesses, and human rights. She is a member of the Collective and Environmental Rights Group at UNAL, has participated in environmental law Moot Courts, and completed an academic exchange at the University of Hamburg, focusing on international maritime, fisheries, and environmental issues.

She is dedicated to researching integrating communities into environmental management, ocean norms and policies, maritime governance, climate change and studying environmental crimes, as well as promoting the integration of human rights into environmental public policies.
