What is Dejusticia?
We are a legal and social studies center located in Bogotá, Colombia. We are dedicated to strengthening the rule of law and promoting human rights in Colombia and the Global South. We deeply believe that knowledge must be committed to social justice in order to contribute to social change. To this end, we conduct rigorous studies and solid public policy proposals, carry out advocacy campaigns in high-impact forums, develop public interest litigation, design and deliver educational and training programs, and network to promote solidarity with the human rights movement.
How do we work at Dejusticia?
At our research center, we work from an amphibious approach, meaning between research and action. Thus, from the depths of academic research and public policy proposals, we develop documents, campaigns, and litigation with the capacity to influence our actions. Meanwhile, our activism enriches academic work and helps produce real impacts for our beneficiaries. Our work is organized into different thematic areas and transversal fields that come together to generate knowledge with the potential to drive social change through advocacy in public policies, promoting informed public debate, judicial claims of rights, and training a wide range of audiences, such as academics, judges, activists, grassroots communities, and policymakers.
